During his address, the Guild President emphasized that while AI is a powerful enabler, it should never replace core educational principles such as critical thinking, problem-solving and interpersonal skills.

“AI should never compromise the fundamentals of learning. Higher education must jealously guard virtues like critical thinking, interpersonal skills and problem-solving while ensuring AI remains a tool for real-world impact and community transformation,” he stated.

The statement resonated with Hon. Janet Museveni, who echoed similar sentiments by challenging higher education institutions to set clear, measurable goals for AI integration to ensure tangible progress.

His call to action encourages students, universities and policymakers to approach AI responsibly, ensuring that it enhances—not replaces—the human element of learning.
