The conference will bring together over 500 public and private tourism stakeholders from both countries and beyond. The goal is to strategize joint promotional efforts and create new opportunities for cross-border tourism. This initiative stems from a partnership between Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ugandan Consulate in Mombasa, which recognized that many Kenyan tourism stakeholders were unaware of the diverse experiences Uganda offers.

Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja emphasized the importance of this collaboration, stating that it aims to enhance awareness of Uganda’s unique attractions, such as Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, home to the endangered mountain gorillas, and the Rwenzori Mountains. The conference’s theme, “The Uganda-Kenya Coast Partnership: Promoting Job Creation, Inclusivity, and Sustainability,” will guide discussions on how to leverage both countries’ rich tourism assets.

In preparation for the conference, a familiarization tour for 70 Kenyan tourism stakeholders will take place from November 8-18, allowing them to experience firsthand Uganda’s diverse tourist destinations. This immersive experience is expected to equip them with the knowledge needed to promote Uganda effectively as a travel destination.
