Mugarura Isaiah Ndebwoha Sworn In as Victoria University’s 9th Guild President After Commanding Electoral Victory

Victoria University has officially ushered in a new chapter of student leadership after swearing in Mugarura Isaiah Ndebwoha as the institution’s elected 9th Guild President following a highly competitive guild election process that attracted massive student participation.

The university’s electoral process concluded with Ndebwoha emerging victorious after securing 2,980 votes out of the total 5,866 ballots cast, giving him 50.8 percent of the overall vote count. The results confirmed a clear lead for the candidate, making him the officially elected student leader for the next guild administration.

The election, which attracted attention across the university community, reflected one of the most actively participated-in student democratic exercises at the institution in recent years. Thousands of students turned up to cast their votes, demonstrating growing interest in student governance, representation, and leadership accountability within the university.

Ndebwoha contested under what he branded as the “VIBE Agenda,” a campaign platform that resonated widely with students throughout the electoral season. During his campaigns, he positioned the agenda as a student-centered vision aimed at strengthening inclusivity, improving student engagement, amplifying student voices, and enhancing the overall university experience.

The swearing-in ceremony officially confirmed the transition of leadership into the hands of the new guild president, marking the beginning of a fresh administration expected to represent student interests before the university management and broader institutional leadership structures.

According to the officially released election figures, the total tally of 5,866 votes highlighted the scale of participation in the polls, while Ndebwoha’s 2,980 votes established a majority lead sufficient to secure the presidency outright. The figures further demonstrated the competitiveness of the race and the significance students attached to the outcome of the election.

His victory now places him among the successive student leaders who have shaped guild governance at Victoria University over the years. As the 9th Guild President, Ndebwoha assumes responsibility for advocating for student welfare, coordinating guild activities, engaging university management on student concerns, and spearheading initiatives aimed at strengthening student unity and academic development.

The election period was characterized by intense mobilization campaigns, strategic student outreach, manifesto presentations, and heightened online engagement among contestants and their supporters. The VIBE Agenda became one of the most talked-about campaign slogans during the race, helping consolidate support among students from different faculties and academic programs.

Students who followed the election process described the outcome as a reflection of confidence in Ndebwoha’s leadership approach, communication style, and campaign promises. His administration is now expected to focus on delivering the commitments highlighted during the campaign period while maintaining active engagement with the student body.

The swearing-in also symbolizes continuity in Victoria University’s student governance system, which has consistently provided students with opportunities to participate in democratic leadership and institutional representation.

With the election concluded and leadership officially handed over, attention now shifts to how the new guild administration will implement its agenda, engage stakeholders, and navigate the responsibilities attached to leading one of Uganda’s growing private universities.
