Minister Abubakher stated, “Yes, it was received. We are processing the invitation; it is now a matter of our internal processes.” This announcement came during the first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, highlighting the growing ties between Uganda and BRICS nations, particularly Russia.

The Ugandan government is currently evaluating the invitation through its internal procedures. This careful consideration reflects the significance of such a partnership for Uganda’s foreign policy and economic future. Joining BRICS as a partner could offer Uganda new avenues for trade, investment, and diplomatic cooperation with some of the world’s largest emerging economies.
