Born on November 8, 1996, in Gomba, Uganda, Pia faced early hardships after losing her mother at the age of two. Raised by her aunt in Buziga, she learned to navigate life’s challenges through various odd jobs to support her education and music aspirations. Her musical journey began at a young age, performing in church and participating in school choirs. By the age of 14, she recorded her first single, “Just the Way You Are,” featuring the legendary Ragga Dee.

After a brief hiatus to complete her education, Pia returned to music during her sophomore year at university. In 2018, she signed with Eddy Kenzo’s Big Talent Entertainment, where she released notable tracks such as “Tubawe” and “Wawangula.” However, seeking creative freedom, she left the label in 2019 to pursue her music independently. This decision led to the establishment of Pia Pounds Limited and co-founding the African Bureau of Music (ABM).

Pia’s breakout hit “Tupaate” not only topped Uganda’s music charts but also gained international recognition by being featured in the Netflix series Young, Famous & African. As she continues to create music that resonates with fans across borders, Pia Pounds remains committed to her craft and advocates for the growth of Uganda’s music industry.
