Kamwenge, Uganda - In a significant move to honor the contributions of local leaders, Gerald Twebaze, Kamwenge District Speaker, has proposed formal mechanisms for paying tribute to councillors and other officials who pass away. This proposal was made during a special council session dedicated to commemorating the late Peter Bazira Male, a respected councillor from Kichwamba Sub-county.

Twebaze described Bazira as a leader whose commitment to community development left an indelible mark on the district. He stressed that recognizing such contributions is essential for preserving their legacies and inspiring future generations of leaders. “We must ensure that those who dedicate their lives to public service are officially eulogised,” Twebaze remarked.

The Speaker suggested various forms of tributes, including monuments and symbolic gestures, to honor these leaders. His call for action was met with strong support from council members, many of whom shared personal anecdotes about Bazira’s impact on their lives and communities.

Twebaze’s proposal aims not only to celebrate individual achievements but also to foster unity among current leaders and motivate them to uphold the values of integrity and dedication in their service. The council unanimously agreed to explore ways to implement these ideas in honoring their fallen comrades.
