According to Charles Komakech Otto, who accompanied the three men, he escaped when confronted by park guards while his companions were allegedly apprehended. Local Council III chairman John Betty Okot relayed Otto’s account, stating that he initially hesitated to report the incident due to fears of retaliation from the families of the missing men.
Nwoya District Police Commander Richard Anyama confirmed that a case file has been opened regarding their disappearance. “Since November 19, their whereabouts remain unknown,” he stated, emphasizing that police are working closely with park authorities to determine what happened.

The situation has drawn attention to safety concerns within national parks, as well as the challenges faced by individuals who venture into these areas for hunting or other activities. Meanwhile, Wilson Kagoro, a warden at Murchison Falls National Park, refuted claims that arrests were made by park guards, suggesting instead that personal issues often lead individuals to enter the park with harmful intentions.
Authorities are appealing for any information regarding the missing hunters and are committed to uncovering the truth behind their disappearance.
