In September, President Museveni exercised his powers as the Commander-in-Chief of the armed forces to promote seven Senior Police Commissioners, including notable figures such as Ubaldo Bamunoba, the Police Chief Political Commissar, and Felix Baryamwisaki, the ICT Director. Other promoted officers include Moses Kafeero, Charles Kataratambi, Frank Mwesigwa, Hadijja Namutebi, and David Wasswa.
Earlier this week, five additional officers were also promoted, including James Apora, the Director of Logistics and Engineering, and Lawrence Niwabiine, the Director of Traffic Police. The promotions come at a time when the Uganda Police Force is under scrutiny for its handling of various security issues in the country.

The rank of Assistant Inspector General of Police is significant within the Uganda Police Force’s hierarchy, being the third-highest rank. Officers serving as directors are typically expected to hold this rank, although some may serve in acting capacities until formal promotions are granted.
As these officers prepare for their new roles, expectations are high regarding their contributions to enhancing security and public safety in Uganda.
