The donation was officially handed over to Bishop Vincent Kirabo by Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja at her office in Kampala. During the handover, Nabbanja emphasized the government’s recognition of the conference’s importance, noting that the funds will support various activities and cover essential expenses for the event.

Bishop Kirabo expressed his heartfelt gratitude for the financial support, highlighting that the conference aims to gather youth from all 19 dioceses in Uganda. He stated that this event provides an invaluable opportunity for church leaders to counsel young people on crucial life aspects such as honesty, faithfulness, love, and hard work.

The National Catholic Youth Conference, organized annually by the Uganda Episcopal Conference, serves as a platform for youth to share ideas, experiences, and challenges while fostering a sense of community. This year’s theme is inspired by Isaiah 40:31: “Those who hope in the Lord will run and will not be weary.” The conference also emphasizes career guidance and instilling gospel values among attendees.
With over 10,000 youth expected to participate, the Hoima Diocese has budgeted UGX 812 million for the event, which includes provisions for feeding and accommodation. The funding is being raised through contributions from other dioceses, government support, and local fundraising efforts. President Museveni is anticipated to address attendees on critical development issues during the conference.
