Eddy Kenzo Calls for Dialogue After UNCC Bans Gravity Omutujju and Lil Pazo.

Kampala, Uganda - Following the Uganda National Cultural Centre (UNCC)'s controversial decision to ban the music of artists Gravity Omutujju and Lil Pazo, musician Eddy Kenzo has stepped forward to criticize this action as illegal and unjust. As President of the Uganda National Musicians Federation, Kenzo is advocating for a more compassionate approach towards artists facing scrutiny over their work.

Kenzo highlighted that while mistakes may occur in artistic expression, it is crucial to handle such situations with care. “They are musicians who might be going through some issues that people don’t know about,” he stated. His remarks underscore the importance of empathy within the industry, especially when dealing with public figures.

Instead of outright bans, Kenzo proposed that the UNCC should consider issuing warnings or engaging in private discussions with artists to address any concerns raised about their content. He also responded to comments made by cultural leaders regarding vulgar lyrics in Luganda songs by suggesting that constructive meetings could lead to better outcomes than public humiliation.

As this situation unfolds, Kenzo’s call for dialogue reflects a broader desire within Uganda’s music community for understanding and support rather than punitive measures against artists striving to express themselves creatively.
