During the thanksgiving service organized by Nankabirwa, Bishop Bukomeko led prayers and took the opportunity to address the growing trend of drawing religious figures into political disputes. “Religious leaders are increasingly being drawn into the muddy world of politics. This challenge is not new,” he stated, emphasizing that such involvement risks diluting their spiritual mission.

The bishop cautioned that when religious leaders become embroiled in political controversies, it could lead to divisions among their followers. He urged Ugandans to reject messages that promote hatred or discord, particularly as the country approaches elections. “The true gospel calls us to love, unity, and peace,” he affirmed.
Additionally, he condemned the misuse of social media to spread divisive messages, calling for responsible digital behavior that promotes harmony and reconciliation.
