Four Killed, Eight Injured in Tragic Taxi Accident on Kampala-Gulu Highway.

The accident involved three vehicles: a stationary blue Iveco trailer (registration SSD 797A/SSD 323F), a grey Toyota Hiace taxi (registration UBQ 356F), and a white Toyota Premio (registration UAX 554L). Preliminary investigations indicate that the taxi was traveling at high speed from Gulu when it rammed into the stationary trailer, which was facing Kampala. The force of the collision caused the taxi to veer off and collide with the Premio, resulting in the immediate deaths of four individuals—three adult men and one male juvenile—whose identities have yet to be confirmed.

ASP Sam Twineamazima, spokesperson for the Savannah Region Police.

Upon arrival at the scene, police quickly transported the injured to Nakasongola Health Center IV for urgent medical care, while the deceased were taken to the facility’s mortuary for post-mortem examinations. The wreckages of both the taxi and Premio were subsequently towed to Migeera Police Station for inspection by the Inspector of Vehicles.

In light of this tragic event, ASP Twineamazima urged motorists to exercise caution on the busy highway, particularly during the festive season when traffic typically increases. He emphasized the importance of adhering to speed limits and being vigilant while driving to prevent such devastating accidents in the future.
