Mr. Henrie highlighted that many artists miss out on crucial gigs, creative opportunities, and overall career advancement because of the actions of their managers. He pointed out that some managers exploit artists’ ignorance, underpaying them for performances and keeping vital information about potential opportunities from them. “We pay Ugx 5 million for a show, and the manager gives the artist only Ugx 2 million, leaving them unaware of the actual earnings,” he stated.

The presenter also criticized the tendency of some managers to disregard music demos sent by producers, often due to their arrogance. “Sometimes producers send demos that are meant for artists to sing, but these managers never share them because they want to keep control,” he explained. Mr. Henrie urged artists to seek professional management teams that prioritize their interests and help them navigate the complexities of the music industry.

As discussions around this issue continue, many in the music community are calling for greater transparency and accountability among music managers to ensure that artists can thrive in their careers.
