Kampala, Uganda – Renowned dancer Ritah Dancehall has announced a significant career shift towards music, citing financial instability as the primary motivation behind her decision. While she remains passionate about dancing, Ritah has recognized the need to explore the music industry to secure a more stable income.
In a recent interview, Ritah revealed that despite her fame as a dancer, it has not translated into sufficient financial gains. “I was looking for money, I can’t lie. We love fame but, in the end, it is about the money. I need to change home; I have got friends and everything but I need money,” she confessed. This candid admission highlights the challenges many artists face in monetizing their talents.
Ritah Dancehall recently released her debut single titled “Ndekie,” which she describes as inspirational and vibrant. Although she acknowledges that her vocal skills may not match those of established singers like Rema Namakula and Iryn Namubiru, she emphasizes her focus on delivering energy and entertainment through her performances. “I’m just here to entertain my fans,” she stated, laughing off any criticism regarding her singing abilities.
As Ritah embarks on this new musical journey, she remains open to collaborations with fellow artists, particularly her close friend Sheebah, while also expressing a desire to avoid putting pressure on her. “She is a queen and will do it when she pleases,” Ritah noted. This transition marks an exciting new chapter in her career as she seeks to balance her passion for dance with her aspirations in music.
