Police Arrest Teachers’ Sacco Leader Over Alleged Mismanagement of Funds.

Kampala, Uganda – The chairperson of the Uganda National Teachers’ Sacco (UNTS)Mr. Godfrey Ssemwanga, has been arrested by police amid allegations of mismanagement of funds intended as a “gift” for President Yoweri Museveni. The arrest comes as part of an investigation into claims that Ssemwanga misappropriated money collected from teachers for this purpose.

According to reports, the teachers’ Sacco had organized to collect funds from its members with the intention of presenting it as a gift to President Museveni, who is also the National Chairman of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM) party. However, concerns arose regarding the management of these funds, leading to police intervention.
