Museveni Highlights Security Successes Amidst Threats of Civil Unrest.

Kampala, Uganda – In his recent New Year address, President Yoweri Museveni highlighted a successful operation by security forces that prevented a plot designed to instigate civil unrest in Uganda. The plan reportedly involved organizing protests similar to those that occurred in Kenya, with intentions to frame the government for violence through the use of Iraqi returnees as shooters.

Museveni expressed gratitude towards the UPDF and other security agencies for their proactive measures in thwarting this scheme. He characterized the plot as an attempt by local traitors and foreign sponsors to destabilize Uganda. “This evil scheme was defeated by God, the UPDF, and the People,” he stated emphatically.

The President’s remarks reflect ongoing concerns about external interference in Uganda’s governance and highlight his administration’s commitment to ensuring peace and stability as the country approaches critical elections in 2026.
