Kampala, Uganda – Renowned Ugandan musician Eddy Kenzo has publicly criticized opposition leader Bobi Wine for his recent comments regarding artists, calling them “beggars.” During a press conference, Bobi Wine urged artists to stop accepting small handouts from the government when advocating for the activation of copyright laws, citing the embarrassing experiences of artists like OS Suna and Ragga Dee during a recent meeting with Gen. Salim Saleh.

Kenzo, who is also the president of the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF), expressed his discontent with Bobi Wine’s remarks, stating that they contribute to the negative perception of artists in society. He argued that Bobi’s involvement in politics has adversely affected the music industry and that his comments are disrespectful to those working hard to succeed in their craft.
In an interview with Bukedde TV, Kenzo emphasized that Bobi Wine’s political choices have led to increased challenges for artists and called for unity among musicians. He urged Bobi to recognize the value of artists rather than labeling them as beggars, questioning how a leader should communicate with their followers.
