Alexander Bagonza, widely known by his stage name A Pass, has confidently asserted his unmatched skill in lyricism, claiming he stands in a unique artistic category that the so-called “Big 3” of Ugandan music—Bobi Wine, Jose Chameleone, and Bebe Cool—cannot rival.
While addressing journalists at a press conference ahead of his highly anticipated live concert set for January 31, 2025, at Kampala Serena Hotel, A Pass did not hold back his self-assured stance.
“The big 3, none of them can do what I do. This is a different level, a different flex,” he declared. “When it comes to people making big concerts and having the most fans, that is different. But when it comes to art, I AM THE ARTIST!”

In his remarks, A Pass acknowledged the veteran musicians’ dominance in terms of larger fan bases and their ability to pull massive crowds, but he emphasized that artistic prowess and lyrical depth are where he reigns supreme.
A Pass is renowned for his witty, metaphor-rich writing and versatile blend of reggae, dancehall, and Afrobeat. His notable hits such as “Tuli Kubigere,” “Dididadada,” and “Guli Wano” have cemented his reputation as a sharp lyricist with a distinctive touch in the Ugandan music scene.
Concert Expectations Fans attending his live concert on January 31 are promised an unforgettable experience of impeccable sound, artistic performance, and a showcase of his lyrical mastery. “Expect nothing but the best sound and the highest level of artistry,” A Pass told the press.
Despite his assertive claims, the public reception remains divided, with some praising his confidence and others defending the lyrical skills of Bobi Wine, Chameleone, and Bebe Cool, whose influence and legacy in Ugandan music span decades.
