U.S. Delegation and Uganda Strengthen Strategic Partnerships.

Kampala, Uganda – President Yoweri Museveni engaged in a productive meeting with a visiting delegation from the White House on January 17, 2025. The team, led by Dr. Rollan Roberts and supported by U.S. political figures Mr. David Woodruff and Mr. Mark Siljander, met to explore avenues for deeper U.S.-Uganda collaboration.

Infrastructure and Market Expansion President Museveni emphasized Uganda’s strategic priorities, highlighting commercial agriculture, manufacturing, services, and ICT as critical growth sectors. He stressed the need for a regional market to supplement domestic demand, advocating for trade-driven economic transformation.

Political Federation for Africa Museveni reiterated his vision for a politically federated East Africa, positioning it as a cornerstone for the continent’s unity and economic resilience. He shared progress updates on integration efforts and invited dialogue on regional cooperation frameworks.

U.S. Perspective on Africa’s Development Dr. Roberts underscored Africa’s need for infrastructure rather than aid, a perspective he believes will shape future U.S.-Africa relations. He expressed optimism about ongoing and future engagements that prioritize mutual benefit.
