Kasese Police Promote Digital Number Plates to Enhance Road Safety.

Kasese, Rwenzori East Region – The Rwenzori East Region police have begun encouraging residents to apply for the newly introduced digital number plates for their vehicles and motorcycles as part of a nationwide initiative to enhance road safety and improve vehicle identification.

In an effort to reduce crime and enhance traffic management, police are urging all vehicle owners in Kasese to make the switch to digital number plates. The new system is expected to make vehicle identification easier, promote accountability, and assist law enforcement in tracking vehicles more efficiently.

“To apply for digital number plates, vehicle owners are required to provide a Tax Identification Number (TIN) and a National Identity Card, especially for those who have not yet transferred ownership of their vehicles,” said SP Nelson Tumushime, Regional Police Spokesperson.

The digital plates will also help to strengthen road safety measures, with the authorities hoping to reduce incidents involving unregistered or hard-to-identify vehicles. This move is part of a broader initiative by the national government to modernize vehicle registration and improve road safety across the country.

SP Tumushime emphasized the importance of vehicle owners adhering to the new system, stating that it would help streamline road safety operations in the region. “We encourage all vehicle owners to make the transition to digital number plates promptly,” he added.
