Kampala, Uganda – Lapaire, a Pan-African eyewear brand, is poised to make significant strides in 2025 as part of its mission to democratize access to quality eye care across Africa. With an impressive year of growth in 2024, the company is looking ahead to an even more ambitious future, with new market entries in Senegal, Tanzania, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) set to expand its footprint even further.
Lapaire, which already has a strong presence in countries such as Uganda, Côte d’Ivoire, Mali, Togo, Benin, and Burkina Faso, saw remarkable growth last year. The company opened 31 new branches across its operational regions, bringing its total number of branches to 91 by the end of 2024. In addition to expanding its physical presence, Lapaire conducted over 275,000 free eye tests, providing essential eye care to underserved populations.

“We have reinforced our footprint by focusing on our customers’ needs,” said Jérôme Lapaire, the company’s founder and CEO, reflecting on the growth in 2024.
The brand’s commitment to improving access to eye care is reflected in its customer base—80% of Lapaire customers were either new to wearing glasses or had previously worn glasses but were no longer using them. This has positioned Lapaire as a market leader in eye care across Africa, blending social impact with business growth.
Looking ahead to 2025, Lapaire’s expansion into Senegal, Tanzania, and the DRC will allow the company to tap into major markets with significant populations but limited access to affordable and stylish eyewear. “These countries present unique opportunities to serve millions more individuals who lack access to eye care services,” said Louis Gascoin, Lapaire’s Chief Operating Officer.
The company is also committed to deepening its impact in its existing markets, with plans to continue opening new branches, strengthening partnerships, and expanding digital channels to further its reach.
As Lapaire approaches the milestone of 100 branches across Africa, the company is well on its way to solidifying its leadership in the African eyewear industry. Its continued focus on innovation, customer satisfaction, and accessibility positions Lapaire as a driving force for positive change in Africa’s eye care sector.
