Kampala, Uganda | Subaru drivers, under their organization Car Tribe Uganda, have launched a campaign to provide scholastic materials for the children of police officers as the new school term approaches. Known for their dynamic driving, this time the group is channeling their energy into a charitable cause aimed at raising UGX 30 million worth of supplies.
The group, which comprises 95 registered members, includes Subaru owners, mechanics, and dealers working together to promote innovation and sustainability in the automotive sector. Phillip Ssendagire, Chairperson of Car Tribe Uganda, highlighted the motivation behind the initiative.
“This is our way of giving back to those who serve and protect. We plan to deliver the materials to Naguru Police Headquarters on February 1. The donations will benefit over 250 children of police officers stationed across the country,” Ssendagire said. He stressed that the group’s efforts are not meant to imply that police officers cannot provide for their families but rather to complement their efforts.
The supplies include essential items such as exercise books, pens, mathematical sets, sanitary pads, and brooms.
Ssendagire also noted the group’s strong connection with the police, explaining that officers are regularly monitoring and guiding them on the roads. “This is our way of showing appreciation,” he said.
The donations will be handed over during a symbolic peaceful drive starting at Akamwesi Mall and culminating at Naguru Police Headquarters.
