Brigadier General Charles Oluka, the Director General of the Internal Security Organisation (ISO) in Uganda, has died at the age of 57. His passing was confirmed on January 29, 2025, after he collapsed at home following a day of work. He was subsequently rushed to Doctor’s Hospital Sseguku along Entebbe Road, where he succumbed to his condition.
Sources indicate that Gen Oluka had been battling heart complications for some time. He had previously traveled abroad for medical reviews with his wife and personal doctor. His death marks a significant loss for the Ugandan military and intelligence community, as he had been a prominent figure since taking over the leadership of ISO in October 2020.
Oluka’s career included various roles within the military, and he was appointed to lead ISO during a time of scrutiny regarding intelligence operations. His leadership was characterized by efforts to enhance national security and address internal threats. The cause of his death is still under investigation, but it is widely acknowledged that he faced ongoing health challenges prior to his passing.
