Kampala, Uganda – As the Kawempe North by-election approaches—artists affiliated with the National Unity Platform (NUP) have found themselves divided in their support for different candidates vying for the party’s flag. King Saha has publicly backed Counsel Elias Nalukoola, while fellow musicians Mudra and Dax Vibes are supporting another contender, foot soldier Magala Umar.
Reports suggest that NUP may favor Counsel Elias Nalukoola following his strong performance in a recent public debate. His reputation as a legal advocate for political figures adds to his appeal within opposition circles.
The by-election is set to take place on March 13, 2025, following the death of former MP Muhammad Ssegirinya.
