Alex Luwemba Luswa Declares NUP Needs Him More Than He Needs Them.

Alex Luwemba Luswa, a prominent political figure in the Kawempe North constituency, has asserted that the National Unity Platform (NUP) needs him more than he needs the party. Luswa made these comments following his denial of the NUP party ticket to contest for the Kawempe North Member of Parliament seat. He confirmed that, despite this setback, he will run for the position as an independent candidate.

In an exclusive interview, Luswa explained that his value as a youth and his ability to mobilize support in the region made him an essential asset to the NUP party. “NUP needs me because I am a youth. I have the numbers, which is what I need, and remember, it’s what the party is interested in, as most of its members are youths,” he said. According to Luswa, the NUP relies heavily on young people to drive its political agenda, and his candidacy offers the party a chance to connect with and rally younger voters.

Luswa did not hold back in criticizing the NUP elections management committee for selecting Elias Nalukoola as the official party candidate. He claims that Nalukoola lacks the necessary support base in the constituency and predicts he will not succeed in winning the Kawempe North seat. “Our party is for young people, and those who were sent into the field failed to delve deep in their inquiries,” Luswa added, emphasizing that his own grassroots appeal would have been a better fit for NUP’s goals in the upcoming election.
