Kampala, Uganda – Ritah Dancehall, one of Uganda’s most electrifying performers, is known for her wild energy and incredible dance moves on stage. However, beneath her larger-than-life persona lies a deeply personal and heartbreaking story that she recently shared in a candid media interview.
Ritah, born Rita Nassazi, opened up about a traumatic experience that nearly cost her everything. She recalled the time during her Senior Six vacation when she fell in love with a man she believed was the one. Her first love, whom she identified as Steven, ultimately shattered her heart when he told her he no longer felt the same way.

The pain of rejection was overwhelming for the young Ritah. In the depth of her despair, she made a drastic and heartbreaking decision to end her life by poisoning herself. Before doing so, she left behind a note for her parents, in which she pleaded with them not to harm Steven, the man she had truly loved.
The poisoning left Ritah in critical condition, and she was rushed to the hospital. She spent three agonizing days in a coma, with her life hanging in the balance. However, against all odds, Ritah pulled through and survived the ordeal.
Reflecting on the experience, Ritah now sees it as a reflection of the depth of her love at the time, something she attributes to her Scorpio nature. Despite the dark chapter in her life, Ritah still considers herself a true romantic, with a belief that love is a force worth fighting for.
This powerful and emotional story serves as a reminder of the importance of mental health and the impact that heartbreak can have on individuals, especially the young and impressionable.
