Kampala, Uganda – Ugandan music icon Bebe Cool has shared an emotional and untold story of heartbreak, revealing how his wife, Zuena Kirema, left him for eight months, pushing him to the verge of leaving Uganda forever.
Speaking during an interview, Bebe Cool explained that the pain of losing Zuena was so intense that he planned to relocate to the United States in search of a fresh start.
"I was at the clinic silently for three weeks. She even came and took care of me, but I was unconscious and didn’t even know she was there," he narrated.
During this dark period, Bebe Cool turned to music as his emotional outlet. It was then that he recorded Agenze, a heart-wrenching song about love, pain, and longing.
The song quickly resonated with Ugandans, becoming one of his biggest hits. It captured his emotional turmoil, with lyrics depicting a man pleading for his lover’s return.
"I was deeply hurt, and I put my emotions into that song. I never knew it would connect with so many people," Bebe Cool admitted.
As Agenze gained popularity, Bebe Cool decided to organize a concert at Lugogo Rugby Grounds. However, this was not just any show—it was supposed to be his farewell concert before leaving Uganda for good.
"I had completed my visa process, and no one knew, not even my brother, that I was planning to leave the country," he revealed.
On the night of the concert, Zuena showed up to oversee the logistics for the international artists who had come to perform at the show. Little did she know, this was Bebe Cool’s last night in Uganda—at least, that’s what he thought.
Just when Bebe Cool was preparing to leave, fate took an unexpected turn. Zuena called him at around 4 PM the next day and said something that changed his decision completely.
"She told me to come home and bring my clothes. I had left the house for her and the kids, but now she was calling me back," Bebe Cool recalled.
That single phone call stopped him from leaving Uganda, rekindling their relationship and leading to the strong family bond they share today.
Bebe Cool and Zuena have since built a solid marriage, raising their children together while balancing family life and a thriving music career.
