Kampala, Uganda – Musician Kalifah Aganaga, real name Sadam Mukiibi, has assured his fans that he will not abandon his music career despite his active involvement in politics.
The “Katono” hitmaker was officially nominated by the Uganda Electoral Commission on Wednesday, February 28, 2025, as a candidate for the upcoming Kawempe North MP by-elections, set for March 13, 2025. Aganaga will be contesting under the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) party ticket.

During an interview with a local television station, Kalifah Aganaga emphasized that music is what made him who he is today, and he has no plans of leaving the industry.
“I will keep doing music despite joining politics. Music made me, and I cannot abandon it just because of politics. I am known everywhere because of music and have traveled the country and the world,” Aganaga stated.
The singer added that music has given him a platform, earned him love and support from people across the world, and opened doors for international travel and opportunities.
Kalifah Aganaga is not new to politics. In 2021, he expressed interest in running for the same Kawempe North MP seat but was denied the National Unity Platform (NUP) party ticket. This led to his political fallout with NUP and party leader Bobi Wine.
Despite the setback, Aganaga has remained determined to pursue his political ambitions, this time under FDC. He will be competing against candidates such as:
- Elias Nalukoola (National Unity Platform – NUP)
- Faridah Nambi (National Resistance Movement – NRM)
- Independent candidates
Aganaga assured his fans that he has several music projects lined up and that his political career will not affect his music output.
With his deep-rooted connections in both music and politics, the upcoming Kawempe North elections will be one to watch as Kalifah Aganaga balances his role as a musician and aspiring legislator.
