Ugandan rapper Fefe Bussi has openly criticized the state of music awards in Uganda, claiming that the country lacks credible award systems that fairly recognize artists’ achievements. The self-proclaimed “smallest rapper” argued that many of the existing awards lack transparency in their selection process and fail to follow a clear and consistent criterion when choosing winners.

Speaking in a recent interview, Fefe Bussi did not hold back in his assessment of the industry’s award structures. “We have no awards in the country. The ones we have don’t have a proper criterion of how awards are given out,” he stated.
Despite his general criticism, Fefe Bussi acknowledged the value of certain awards, particularly the Galaxy FM Zzina Awards, which he believes have played a role in recognizing and motivating young musicians. “I liked the Zzina Awards because they awarded young musicians. This helps to motivate them,” he explained.
The rapper emphasized that for Ugandan music awards to be taken seriously, organizers must establish clear and fair guidelines for selecting winners. According to him, credible awards not only celebrate excellence but also encourage artistic growth and inspire young talent to strive for success in the industry.
