Swangz Avenue singer Vinka, real name Veronica Lugya, has urged fellow musicians to put an end to unnecessary rivalry and violence in the music industry, stating that such conflicts are detrimental to the growth of the sector.
Speaking about the state of the Ugandan music industry, Vinka emphasized that while the copyright management system is a major step in addressing industry challenges, it is not the only issue that needs attention.

"Copyright is not the only challenge affecting the music industry. It is beyond that—there is a need to tackle unnecessary beef and violence in the business because people sometimes fight and injure one another unnecessarily," she stated.
She acknowledged the efforts of Eddy Kenzo and the Uganda National Musicians Federation (UNMF) in pushing for the copyright bill in parliament, stating that once implemented effectively, it will help musicians earn extra income.
Vinka’s message comes at a time when the Ugandan music industry has been marred by feuds and physical altercations among artists, sometimes leading to serious injuries. She called upon fellow artists to embrace unity and professionalism to foster a more productive music industry.
