Renowned Ugandan musician Bebe Cool has shut down speculation about him joining politics, citing the deceptive nature of elective leadership. The Gagamel International CEO, who has been outspoken about Uganda’s political landscape, stated that he does not see himself taking up a political role due to his dislike for dishonesty.

“Politics has always been in my family, but after evaluating my options, I don’t see myself getting involved in elective positions. The only way I can engage in politics is if it doesn’t require me to lie to people. I believe a good leader should tell people the truth, not just what they want to hear.”
Bebe Cool’s rejection of a political career comes as a surprise to many, given his influence and philanthropic work that has benefited numerous Ugandan youth. Many believed that his natural leadership abilities and strong political background would lead him to contest for an elective position.
However, despite his reluctance, Bebe Cool did not entirely dismiss the possibility of a future in politics. He stated that he would reconsider his stance if young people urged him to run based on his values of honesty, service, and hard work.
“I can’t completely rule it out because in life, anything can happen. But I don’t think I want to be in elective politics. If one day young people believe in truth, hard work, and genuine service, and they ask me to run for office on that basis, then I would consider it.”
For now, Bebe Cool remains committed to his music career and philanthropic efforts, choosing to lead by example rather than seeking an elective political position.
