Eddy Kenzo Alleges Internal NRM Sabotage After Stage Scuffle.

Renowned Ugandan musician Eddy Kenzo has alleged that elements within the National Resistance Movement (NRM) are actively working against him following a scuffle with a Special Forces Command (SFC) officer at President Museveni’s rally in Kawempe on Tuesday.

The incident, which took place in front of a large crowd, saw Kenzo forcefully confronted by an SFC security operative while performing at the rally. Videos circulating online show the musician resisting attempts to be removed from the stage before an altercation ensued.

Speaking after the event, Kenzo revealed that the security officer was acting on direct orders from certain individuals within the ruling party. “There are people who are fighting me from within NRM,” he stated. “You could see him continuously getting instructions on the radio to push me down.”

While Kenzo did not name specific individuals, his claims have fueled speculation about internal conflicts within the party, particularly regarding his political associations. The singer, who has previously been linked to opposition figures, has since distanced himself from partisan politics, though his appearances at NRM events have not been well received by all factions.

Despite the confrontation, Kenzo maintained that his primary focus remains on his artistic career and uniting Ugandans through music. He later expressed regret over the situation, apologizing to those who may have perceived his reaction negatively.

Security officials have yet to comment on the matter, but the incident has reignited discussions on the role of artists in Ugandan politics and their treatment at political events.
