Pastor and musician Wilson Bugembe has expressed gratitude towards DJs and entertainment spots for playing his gospel music in bars and nightclubs, stating that it helps in spreading the word of God to all people, including drunkards.
Speaking recently, the lead preacher at Worship House in Nansana highlighted that gospel music should not be limited to churches alone, as the message of salvation applies to everyone, regardless of their lifestyle choices.

Pastor Bugembe acknowledged popular Ugandan DJs such as DJ Miracle and DJ Shiru, who have consistently played his music in entertainment venues.
“I want to thank all DJs who continue to play my music in bars, especially DJ Miracle, who started it, and DJ Shiru. It’s a good thing because they are spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ.”
He emphasized that many people listen to gospel music in unexpected places, and that playing Christian songs in bars could inspire someone to change their ways.
Unlike many traditional gospel artists who only perform in churches and religious gatherings, Bugembe has always embraced a broader approach to ministry, taking gospel music beyond conventional platforms.
Together with Judith Babirye, Bugembe is credited with revolutionizing gospel music in Uganda, making it more accessible and relatable to people outside religious settings.
His hit songs such as Komawo Eka, Lengera Embaata, and Wanakisa have not only topped gospel charts but have also been played in weddings, bars, and social events.
Pastor Bugembe insists that no one should be excluded from receiving the gospel.
“The gospel has no limits. Jesus came for everyone, including drunkards and sinners. If someone in a bar listens to a gospel song and it touches their heart, that’s a win for the kingdom of God.”
This approach has sparked mixed reactions within the Christian community, with some traditional believers criticizing his methods, while others praise him for reaching out to the lost in unconventional ways.
Regardless, Wilson Bugembe remains one of Uganda’s most influential gospel musicians, dedicated to spreading hope, love, and faith through music, wherever it is heard.
