Mufti Sheikh Shaban Ramadan Mubajje Calls for TikTok Regulation, Citing Misuse by Idlers.

Kampala, Uganda – The Mufti of Uganda, Sheikh Shaban Ramadan Mubajje, has voiced strong concerns over the misuse of TikTok, calling on the government to regulate or ban the social media platform. Speaking during Eid al-Fitr prayers at the Uganda Muslim Supreme Council headquarters in Old Kampala, Mubajje criticized the app for promoting slander, falsehoods, and immorality among its users.

According to Mubajje, TikTok has become a platform dominated by idle individuals who use it to spread misleading information and engage in unproductive behavior. He noted that even some Muslim leaders are using TikTok to discuss petty issues that disorganize and divide the Muslim community. “Most Sheikhs on TikTok are misguiding. They bring petty things to disorganize Muslims,” he stated, adding that such discussions fail to contribute to the basics of Islamic teachings.

Mubajje further compared TikTok unfavorably to Facebook, which was banned in Uganda over four years ago. He argued that TikTok poses an even greater threat to societal values and urged the government to act swiftly. “TikTok is worse than Facebook… It is being used by idlers and those with nonsense to say,” he remarked.
