Entebbe, Uganda – The tragic death of celebrated Ugandan photographer Saad Byakuleka, popularly known as Saad Shots, has been conclusively attributed to blunt force trauma to the head, resulting in instantaneous death. The fatal accident took place on Good Friday at Bugonga junction near Entebbe Airbase, a busy crossroads known for frequent traffic incidents involving motorcyclists.
Saad Shots was renowned for capturing compelling images that told stories of Uganda’s culture, events, and everyday life. His sudden passing has sent shockwaves through Uganda’s creative and media communities.

During the funeral service held in his hometown of Kazo district, his brother Alex Byakuleka shared the findings of the official coroner’s report, which confirmed that Saad’s death occurred on impact when his head struck the tarmac following a head-on collision with another motorcyclist. This official statement came amid speculation and rumors circulating on social media regarding the exact cause of death.
The family has urged the public to respect the coroner’s findings and cease unfounded speculation. They emphasized the importance of honoring Saad’s legacy rather than fixating on the tragic circumstances. Saad’s death highlights ongoing concerns about road safety in Uganda, especially involving boda bodas (motorcycles), which are a common but often dangerous form of transport.
