Apostle Grace Lubega’s $55 Million Church Project Sparks Nationwide Debate.

Apostle Grace Lubega, founder of Phaneroo Ministries International, recently announced an ambitious plan to construct a $55 million (approximately UGX 210 billion) church building at the ministry’s Naguru campus in Kampala. Speaking to thousands of congregants during a Sunday service, Lubega emphasized that the project would be funded entirely through faith and internal giving, without relying on bank loans or external fundraising.

“I am Abraham’s son,” Lubega declared, expressing confidence that God would provide through faithful believers. He recounted knowing a young man in the ministry who, despite being unemployed, is willing to give a million dollars-a testament to the faith-driven nature of the project.

The planned cathedral, whose design and exact location remain undisclosed, is expected to become one of the largest and most iconic church facilities in East Africa. Phaneroo Ministries, founded in 2014, has grown rapidly, especially among Uganda’s youth, with thousands attending weekly services.

The announcement has ignited vibrant discussions on social media platforms, with some praising Lubega’s vision and faith, while others criticize the allocation of such vast resources to a church building amid Uganda’s pressing social challenges.
