Eddy Kenzo Withdraws from Proposed Public Debate with Azawi.

Musician Edirisa Musuuza, popularly known as Eddy Kenzo, has officially withdrawn from the much-anticipated public debate with fellow artist Azawi. In late May, Kenzo had publicly challenged Azawi to a debate on issues surrounding politics and the music industry in Uganda. However, during a recent interview with NBS Television in early June 2025, Kenzo confirmed he would not be participating in the debate he initially proposed.

Kenzo did not provide a strong reason for his withdrawal, stating only that he was not seeking to challenge Azawi but had wanted to clarify some achievements of the musicians’ federation. He expressed admiration for Azawi, saying, “I am no longer interested in the debate, and I’m not here to challenge Azawi. I love her, and I’m genuinely happy for her. I just wanted to clarify what the federation has done.”

Azawi had previously accepted the challenge and requested the debate be held in one of Kampala’s ghettos, reflecting the roots of both artists. With Kenzo’s withdrawal, the debate has been cancelled, disappointing fans who were eager for the exchange.
