Media personality and comedian Hussein Muyonjo, popularly known as Swengere, has expressed strong confidence in securing the National Unity Platform (NUP) ticket for the Jinja North parliamentary race in 2026. In a recent interview aired on Sanyuka TV, Swengere highlighted that unlike the 2021 elections, the nomination process this time is heavily influenced by community support, with 60% of the decision resting on the “ground” — the people — and 40% on the NUP Electoral Commission.

Swengere emphasized NUP President Robert Kyagulanyi’s (Bobi Wine) message that the ticket belongs to the people, not party offices or leaders. This grassroots-driven approach gives Swengere optimism, as he has built a strong connection with the people of Jinja through his advocacy for social justice and community issues.
Swengere’s nomination process is already underway, with reports confirming his visit to NUP headquarters in Kavule to submit nomination forms. His popularity as a comedian and community advocate positions him as a formidable contender in the Jinja North race.
