After being cleared to contest Uganda’s 2026 presidential elections for the second time, musician-turned-politician Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, popularly known as Bobi Wine, delivered a powerful, emotional speech outlining his vision for Uganda’s future. Acknowledging the trust placed in him since 2021, Bobi Wine framed the election as a decisive moment to finally achieve freedom, justice, and dignity for Ugandans.

He invoked the long, bloodied history of Uganda’s leadership changes and condemned the 40-year rule of President Yoweri Museveni, denouncing decades of oppression, looting, and state institutions turned into tools of control. Bobi Wine declared that Uganda is rich in resources and talent but suffers from poor leadership that exploits rather than uplifts its people. The speech emphasized resilience amid state violence, honoring fallen comrades, and the imperative to continue the fight for a new Uganda where justice and fair governance prevail.
