Miss Uganda unveils beauty queens for 2019 crown

Miss Uganda Foundation on Tuesday night unveiled its 22 contestants for the 2019 Miss Uganda beauty pageant at Sheraton hotel in Kampala.

The contenders for Uganda’s top beauty crown were introduced by the MC of the night Cleopatra Koheirwe, actress, writer, singer and media personality currently working at Radiocity 97Fm during the Sheraton Rwenzori ball room glamorous event.

Here are their profiles:

Contestant No.1

Mariam Muhamed from Wakiso. She is a personal assistant pursuing a bachelor’s degree in procurement and logistics. Her role model is her mother Mrs Mariam Abdurahman Doka.

Contestant No.2

Gloria Nawanyaga from Masaka. A student currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Law. Her role model is Barack Obama.

Contestant No.3

Anshemeza Santina from Kiruhura. A student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in public administration at UCU Mukono. Her role model is her mother Mrs Sonia Mwesigye.

Contestant No.4

Braton Braxy Kempango from Kabarole. She is self-employed and has a general certificate of secondary education. Her role model is Anita Beryl.

Contestant No.5

Nyamatte Mariam from Ntungamo. She is a marketer and holds a diploma in Law. Her role model is First Lady Janet Museveni.

Contestant No.6

Nabirah Nagawa from Wakiso. She is a student pursuing a diploma in fashion and design. Her role model is her father Mr Tamale Hakim.

Contestant No.7

Petronella Acen from Kole. She is a student pursuing a degree in education. Her role model is Mrs Dorah Mwiima.

Contestant No.8

Nusula Nabirye from Jinja. She is a student pursuing a diploma in business administration. Her role model is her mother Mrs Nabirye Esther.

Contestant No.9

Claire Gift Kabahemba from Kyenjojo. She is a student pursuing a bachelor’s degree in education at Makerere University. Her role model is Mrs Noerine Kaleeba.

Contestant No.10

Margaret Naimuli from Kamuli. She is pursuing a degree in journalism and communication. Her role model is Maggie Kigozi.

Contestant No.11

Namawa Rebecca Phine, 25, Mbale. She is pursuing accounting technical diploma. Her role model is her mother Agaba.

Contestant No.12

Carolyne Rukundo, 23, Ibanda. She is a travel agent with a diploma in international air transport. Her role model is Kendall Jenner.

Contestant No.13

Elizabeth Bagaya, 24, Kampala. She is a make-up artist. She holds a bachelor’s degree in human resource management. Her role model is Lupita Nyongo.

Contestant No.14

Annie Tricia Tamale, 20, Mpiji- Butambala. She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in fashion and design. Her role model is Rebecca Kadaga.

Contestant No.15

Elizabeth Nakayiza Kigula, 19, Mpigi. She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in business statistics. Her role model is her mother Esther Kigula.

Contestant No.16

Kusiima Bronnie Divine, 18, Kanungu. She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in nursing. Her role model is her mother Mrs Barbara Murungi.

Contestant No.17

Sheilah Kababoopi Abwooli, 22, Kabarole. She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree of arts with education at Kyambogo university. Her role model is Mr Rwabwogo Timothy Akiiki.

Contestant No.18

Sibella Raphaela Nsiimire, 22, Kabale. She is doing a degree in commerce at MUBS. Her role model is Amito Stacey.

Contestant No.19

Angella Akullo, 20, Lira. She is pursuing a degree in procurement and logistics management. Her role model is her mother Mrs Akullo Rose.

Contestant No.20

Beatrice Aol, 24, Kitgum. She is a fashion designer with a degree in fashion and textile design. Her role model is Amito Stacey.

Contestant No.21

Uwimbabazi Lucky, 26, Kisoro.  She is a business woman with a degree in business administration specialising in accounting. Her role model is Mrs Michelle Omamteker.

Contestant No.22

Oliver Nakakande, 24, Bombo. She is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in Business management/marketing. Her role model is Serena Williams.

During their unveiling, reigning Miss Uganda 2018 and Miss Africa Quiin Abenakyo showed the newcomers how it is done by cat-walking on stage.

The 22 contestants are trained and mentored by Academy of Queens also former Miss Uganda including; Leah Kalanguka, Sylvia Namutebi, Leah Kagasa, Quiin Abenakyo and Phiona Bizzu.

Speaking at the event, Miss Uganda CEO Brenda Nanyonjo said the grand finale will get underway on July 26, 2019 at Sheraton hotel.

The Reigning Miss World Vanessa Ponce De Leon together with the Miss World team headed by CEO Julia Morley will be present to hand over the crowns.

They are soon jetting into the country for a 6-day visit which will include, a State visit and the pearl of Africa tour.
