American artist Selena Gomez is the new Queen of Instagram after officially dethroning Kylie Jenner as the app’s most followed female.
On 20 December 2021, American media personality Kylie earned the crown for the most followers on Instagram for a female, with 290,683,268 followers.
But on 23 February 2023, she was dethroned by pop star Selena, who surpassed Kylie’s following with a whopping 381,580,525 followers.

Selena returned to the popular social media app last month, telling her followers in a caption, “Wait, can I tell you I’m back on Instagram?”
It isn’t the first time Selena has taken a hiatus from her social media platforms.
In a Vanity Fair article, the former Disney star mentioned she allows her assistant to manage her accounts because of the mean comments she often receives.
“People can call me ugly or stupid and I’m like, Whatever. But these people get detailed,” Selena told the magazine.
“They write paragraphs that are so specific and mean. I would constantly be crying. I constantly had anxiety… I couldn’t do it anymore. It was a waste of my time.”
