Artistes and Media Faces Shine in NUP’s New Parliament Flag Bearers Lineup.

The National Unity Platform (NUP) party officially released its list of verified parliamentary flag bearers for the 2026 general elections, with notable wins for musicians and media personalities, signaling a new wave of youth and creative representation in Ugandan politics.

Musician Mathias Walukaaga triumphed over Medard Segona to secure the Busiro East parliamentary seat. Actress Mukisa Proscovia defeated incumbent Joyce Bagala for the Mityana District Woman MP ticket, while singer Nina Kakunda (Nina Roz) was nominated for the Sembabule District seat. Established artistes like Hillary Kiyaga (Dr. Hilderman), Geoffrey Lutaaya, and Kayemba Solo Geoffrey maintained their party tickets in their respective constituencies.

In the media landscape, prominent figures such as Zambali Bulasio Mukasa and Kyeyune Ivan (famous for NTV’s Zugulu) claimed candidacies in Nansana Municipality and Nakasongola County, respectively. Comedian and performer Hussein Muyonjo (Swegere) and media personality Anyole Innocent were also among the party’s parliamentary aspirants, reflecting NUP’s strategy to blend grassroots activism with mainstream popular culture.
