A groundbreaking BBC World Service investigation has uncovered that Charles Mwesigwa, also known as Abbey, runs a sex trafficking ring exploiting vulnerable young Ugandan women in Dubai’s glamorous neighborhoods. Posing as job opportunities, many women were lured to the UAE only to be forced into sex work involving degrading and extreme sexual acts.
Mwesigwa, a self-described former London bus driver, boasted to an undercover BBC reporter about his roster of women available for parties, charging upwards of $1,000 per night. Survivors revealed horrific experiences involving violent debt bondage, extreme fetish demands, and fear of escape. Two women connected to Mwesigwa’s network died after falling from Dubai high-rise apartments under suspicious circumstances. Despite denials from Mwesigwa and inconclusive police investigations, the BBC report implicates a deeply exploitative and dangerous network masquerading under false pretenses.
