Isabaruuli’s remarks focused on the contentious Kyarubanga Forest Reserve, which has become a flashpoint for conflict among old settlers, new occupants, and evicted families. He stressed that decisive government intervention is necessary to resolve disputes surrounding this critical land resource. The forest reserve was designated for degazettement by President Museveni in 2019 with the intent of resettling landless households.
With over 500 families already living on the contested land, tensions have escalated following the resettlement of more than 1,000 additional individuals from various regions. The cultural leader lamented that many community members have suffered injuries or wrongful imprisonment due to these conflicts and called for President Museveni’s direct involvement to restore peace and stability.

Isabaruuli also acknowledged government efforts in implementing economic programs that have improved local livelihoods but emphasized the need for enhanced financial support for cultural institutions that play a vital role in community cohesion.
