Social commentator and businessman Frank Gashumba has addressed critics of his recent kukyala ceremony with Malaika Mutoni, revealing fascinating details about the event’s planning and grandeur. Originally scheduled for April 2025, the ceremony was postponed due to the Catholic Lent season, with the new date set for May 14, 2025, chosen by Pastor Bujjingo to respect Gashumba’s faith.

Held in Lwemiyaga, Sembabule district, the kukyala was marked by an extravagant display, including a convoy of over 120 luxury vehicles, predominantly 2025 model G-Wagons. Gashumba proudly noted that all the vehicles were provided free of charge by his friend Mighty Rides, adding to the event’s exclusivity and scale.
Highlighting the ceremony’s impact on the local community, Gashumba claimed the event caused a temporary spike in fuel demand, jokingly stating, “We caused inflation. Petrol stations dried up.” He also challenged critics by asking who else has held a customary kukyala on a weekday with seven ministers in attendance, underscoring the ceremony’s prominence.

The lavish event not only celebrated the union of Gashumba and Malaika but also reinforced cultural traditions and Gashumba’s status as a prominent figure unafraid to embrace grandeur in his personal milestones.
