Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya Faces Eviction Amid Rent Hike

Kampala, Uganda – Hon. Muhammad Ssegirinya, the Member of Parliament for Kawempe North, has been ordered to vacate his office premises immediately due to a significant rent increase. The landlord raised the monthly rent from Shs 700,000 to Shs 2 million, citing increased property rates as the reason.

However, Ssegirinya’s team believes the eviction is politically motivated. His Personal Assistant, Alex Luswa Luwemba, revealed that they discovered a politician had colluded with brokers to secure the eviction, likely due to the office’s strategic location.

As they search for a new office at a lower rent of around Shs 400,000 per month, Ssegirinya plans to allocate the saved funds towards empowering struggling mothers through the Ssegibox campaign. This is not the first time Ssegirinya has faced eviction; he was previously forced out of his home just before election nominations.
