Persis Namuganza Faces Second Defeat in Bukono County NRM Primaries as Tribunal Orders Fresh Elections.

State Minister for Lands, Housing, and Urban Development, Persis Namuganza, was handed a second electoral setback in the National Resistance Movement (NRM) primaries for Bukono County in Namutumba District. Following a successful petition challenging the initial July 17, 2025 primaries, the NRM Election Disputes Tribunal nullified Emmanuel Maganda Katoko’s initial win and ordered fresh elections in Kibaale Sub-County and Kibaale Town Council due to irregularities including tallying chaos and procedural lapses.

Namuganza had contested the first results citing fraud, violence, and manipulation, especially in areas where she alleges no proper voting or tallying took place. The repeat elections reaffirmed Maganda’s victory with 20,512 votes over Namuganza’s 17,764, ending her hopes of overturning the earlier results through legal challenges. Namuganza’s persistent allegations underscored a turbulent political battle characterized by accusations of vote rigging and electoral mismanagement.
