Presidential Aspirant James Mubangizi Calls for Unified Government Action to Propel Uganda to First-World Status.

James Mubangizi, a Ugandan presidential aspirant for the 2026-2031 term, has emphasized the critical need for all three arms of government—the Executive, Legislature, and Judiciary—to work transparently and cohesively to transform Uganda into a first-world economy. Speaking amid the government’s ambitious economic growth projections, Mubangizi stated that “a 24-hour economy requires a 24-hour government.”

He outlined specific roles for each arm: the Executive must enforce digital service delivery and maintain audit trails to enhance accountability; the Legislature should legislate open data policies and implement real-time oversight tools to ensure transparency; and the Judiciary must operate fast, fair and public corruption courts to uphold justice and deter graft.

Mubangizi’s call aligns with Uganda’s current economic trajectory, with the Ministry of Finance projecting a 7% GDP growth in the 2025/26 financial year and a continued expansion fueled by commercial agriculture, industrialization and digital transformation. The government’s budget theme, “Full Monetisation of Uganda’s Economy,” underscores the importance of integrating technology and transparency into governance to sustain this growth.

To make Uganda a first-world economy, all 3 arms of government must act. A 24-hour economy requires a 24-hour government. The Executive must enforce digital service delivery and audit trails, the Legislature should legislate open data and real-time oversight tools & the Judiciary must operate fast, fair & public corruption courts. These 3 arms must function transparently together to lift Uganda from systemic stagnation to first-world prosperity. #SmartLeadership #RETA #EconomicGrowth
