On the morning of September 23, 2025, President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni was formally nominated as the National Resistance Movement (NRM) presidential candidate at the Electoral Commission headquarters in Lubowa, Wakiso District. Accompanied by First Lady and Education Minister Janet Kataaha Museveni, NRM leaders Moses Kigongo and Anita Among, Museveni positioned his candidacy around the themes of stability and Uganda’s economic transformation.

Post-nomination, Museveni pledged to deepen efforts to safeguard and advance Uganda’s hard-won gains to ensure steady progress for every citizen. He highlighted the country’s peace and stability under his leadership, though warning of challenges related to crime and impunity that law enforcement and the party would actively address. Museveni also commended the Electoral Commission for its diligence in reviewing his nomination documentation, affirming his commitment to transparency and constitutional governance.
