LIVE Updates: Presidential Nominations Continue Amidst Weather Disruptions.

The second day of Uganda’s 2026 presidential nominations took place on September 24, 2025, at the Electoral Commission headquarters in Lubowa. Following the nomination of incumbent President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni the previous day, the focus shifted to opposition candidates.

Despite intermittent rain disrupting Robert Kyagulanyi (Bobi Wine)’s speech during the NUP rally, the proceedings continued with robust security and strict limits on attendees inside the nomination venue. Nathan Nandala Mafabi of the Forum for Democratic Change was nominated early in the day, followed by Alliance for National Transformation’s Gen. Mugisha Muntu at 1pm. Opposition leader Robert Kyagulanyi formally submitted his nomination around 2pm and later addressed supporters in Nateete.
